IHM Client Svartbro Signs With Tyreso Hanviken

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce that client, Emil Svartbro, has signed with Tyresö/Hanviken SK of Sweden’s HockeyEttan. The Swedish Division 1 club is located just southeast of Stockholm. Svartbro is entering his first year of professional hockey. The 5’10, 181-pound left shot can play center or wing, and was born July 11, 1999. Emil is entering his second year as a member of the IHM Team.

Svartbo’s signing is essentially a homecoming, as the former two-year Djurgårdens IF SuperElit player was born in Tyresö. Svartbro also played for local Stockholm-area clubs, Almtuna IS and Nacka HK, in his J18 years. Last season, Svartbro got back to his point-producing ways, compiling a stat line of 38GP-21G-38A-59PTS in the COVID-19-shortened Western States Hockey League season. Svartbro started the season with the Utica Jr. Comets of the NCDC, then made his way to the expansion Las Vegas Thunderbirds, before being moved to the perennial championship-contending Ogden Mustangs, prior to the trade deadline. Svartbro’s point total was good for a Top-35 spot in the entire WSHL.

Quite possibly the highlight to Svarbro’s season was his selection for the Estonian National Team’s Olympic Games Qualifier roster. It was his first senior team selection, after playing for the U20 World Junior Championship team in 2018, where he won the Gold Medal on home ice, in Tallinn. Svartbro took a brief leave of absence from his Ogden team, to join his countrymen in Great Britain. Svartbro is also a U16 SM Gold Medal winner, from his 2014-2015 season with Djurgårdens IF. Despite receiving interest at the NCAA Division III level, he made the decision to come home and take his shot at the professional ranks.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,

“We are very excited for Emil to not only sign this offer, but be able to compete throughout his rookie season in a comfortable yet challenging environment. Emil is a very versatile player. He can play center or wing, and can score goals, facilitate the offense, or play physical. It was a pleasure watching him adapt to the North American game, this year, and I think his development will really help him at the senior level. It’s unfortunate the way Emil, and many others’, season ended, but this is a fantastic way to start the next chapter in his career.”

Emil added,

"I’m excited to join my hometown team, Tyresö/Hanviken, for next season! I’m really looking forward to my first year in pro hockey. Thanks to IHM for helping me through junior hockey in USA, to a pro contract back home!"

CONGRATULATIONS, EMIL!
