IHM Welcomes Canadian Defenseman Luke Shiplo

International Hockey Management is proud to announce the signing of Canadian defenseman, Luke Shiplo. The May 31, 1995-born left shot stands 5’10 and weighs 180 pounds. The Oakville, Ontario native finished his first professional season with the Jacksonville IceMen of the East Coast Hockey League.


Shiplo started last season with the Wichita Thunder, in the ECHL, before being traded to Jacksonville. The two-way defender notched 26 Points in his rookie season, with a stat line of 57GP-4G-22A. Notably, Shiplo maintained a Plus-6 Rating, tops among the regular Jacksonville defenders. 


Shiplo finished a four-year collegiate career in 2019, with Quinnipiac University, highlighted by a Freshman year which included ECAC Champions and NCAA Division-I National Championship Runner-Up honors. For his career, he compiled a stat line of: 113GP-13G-16A-29Pts. Ship was a standout for the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (Canadian Junior A), prior to signing with Quinnipiac University. His 44 Points were good for 4th-most among BCHL defensemen. Shiplo was a two-year United States Hockey League veteran, before his 20-year-old season back in Canada. He played a full season for both the Des Moines Buccaneers and Lincoln Stars, with career numbers of: 93GP-4G-13A-23Pts.

Luke had a fantastic rookie season in the ECHL, coming off a great NCAA career, and like many players, is in new territory as far as this season is concerned. We will be focusing on making sure Luke is playing hockey in 2020-2021, whether that be in the ECHL or elsewhere.”
