IHM Welcomes Former KHL Forward Igor Levitsky

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce the signing of Russian forward, Igor Levitsky. The Moscow native stands 5’11 and weighs 187 pounds. He was born April 8, 1993, and is a right shot winger. Last season, he was the Captain of Torpedo-Gorky NN of Russia’s VHL (affiliate of with parent club, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod - KHL). He finished the season third on the club in Scoring, and led the team in Assists.

Levitsky has a dazzling résumé that includes over 200 KHL (Kontinental Hockey League) games, a Top-10 Scoring season in MHL (Russia’s top junior league), a season in the QMJHL, and an appearance for Team Russia in the famed U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The skilled winger has laced them up for Atlant Mytishchi, Spartak Moskva, HK Sochi, Sibir Novosibirsk, and CSKA Moskva in the KHL.

In 2010-2011, after being drafted 21st overall in the CHL Import Draft, Levitsky played a full season for the Gatineau Olympiques in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Among his teammates were three future NHLers, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Tye McGinn, and Nicolas Deslauriers. That same year, Levitsky represented his home country of Russia, on their U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup team. Canada, led by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Scoring Champion), Jonathan Huberdeau, & Dougie Hamilton, won the Gold Medal, defeating the USA team led by Johnny Gaudreau, Vincent Trocheck, & Connor Murphy. Despite not medalling, Levitsky finished the tournament tied for 4th in Scoring, along with his teammate, Nail Yakupov, just one point behind Nashville Predators forward, Viktor Arvidsson. Levitsky’s 4 Goals also led the team, which included players such as Mikhail Grigorenko and Nikita Kucherov.

Levitsky was also drafted in the KHL in 2010, in the 3rd Round (62nd Overall) by Atlant Mytishchi. In 2012-2013, he finished 6th in Scoring in the MHL, for their junior team. The following year, he made his KHL debut. Levitsky has scored 30 career KHL Goals, while adding 28 Assists.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,

“It’s a pleasure to help Igor in his quest to take his talents into the Western European market. Igor is not only a highly-skilled player, but he also is not afraid of playing the proverbial North American style game. He’s been counted on to be a leader, recently, and he has a long history of being a top point producer. We are looking forward to helping him through this process, and following along in his next career move."
