IHM Client Anton Thelander Signs With GSK

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce that client, Anton Thelander, has signed with GSK Hockey (Gislaved) in Sweden’s HockeyTvåan. The Swedish Division 2 club is located in Gislaved between Gothenburg and Växjö, in Jönköping County. Thelander is entering his first full year of professional hockey. The 6’4, 209-pound left shot defenseman was born June 5, 2000. Anton spent last season splitting time between the Nässjö J20 and Division 2 teams, prior to finishing the season with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the NA3HL.

Thelander waited-out the travel restrictions, and made his way to the United States in early 2021, after a 14-day quarantine in Mexico. He played a total of 20 Games for the Blazers, including 8 Playoff Games. He finished with 9 Goals and 12 Assists, recording over a point-per-game as a defenseman. Thelander provided OKC with a cannon one-timer on their lethal power play, as well as a big physical player that made his presence known. Last season, Thelander played for his hometown club, Tidaholms HF, in Sweden's Division 3, while also adding 6 Points in 7 Games for Borås HC's J20 Elit team.

GSK Hockey's Sports Director, Robin Johansson, commented,

Anton is a big man and has a hard shot. He is really good when he releases the puck quickly, and uses his size correctly with his tough and aggressive playing style. He will be useful to us this Winter.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, added,

Anton had a great experience in the US, going to the league semi-finals, and gaining a load of confidence. He was able to take an important role and play to his strengths. I think he will return to the senior game with a newfound belief in his abilities, and be a solid asset for a very good organization in GSK Hockey.
