IHM Client Avery Gobbo Signs With Poitiers
International Hockey Management is proud to announce that client, Avery Gobbo, has signed with Poitiers in France Division-II. The former Connecticut College NCAA Division-III goaltender is from Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and will be entering his rookie professional season. The 5’10, 181-pound left-catching netminder was born June 29, 1997.
Gobbo was honored as the Camels Men’s Ice Hockey Team’s Unsung Hero Award in 2019-2020, along with an induction to The Phi Betta Kappa Society, and the Brown/Brooks Award, given to the school’s top male scholar-athlete. Gobbo was also named to the NESCAC All-Academic Team and Connecticut College’s Dean’s List, all four years. In his four-year career, he compiled a stat line of 37GP - 2.93GAA .908SV%. Gobbo had stellar seasons his Freshman & Junior campaigns, combing for a 2.63GAA & .918SV%. Prior to committing to Connecticut College, in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, Gobbo played US Prep at Northfield Mount Herman School, sporting a 2.59GAA & .920SV%. Gobbo possesses an Italian passport, and also speaks fluent French.
Les Dragons de Poitiers, or formerly known as, Stade Poitevin Hockey Club, were promoted from France Division-III, this season. Poitiers is located 2.5 hours southwest of Paris, via train. Les Dragons finished the regular season with a 13-1 record, prior to the shutdown.
International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,
"Avery was part of a very strong goaltending tandem during his NCAA career. Now, he will be the main guy for Poitiers. He is looking forward to that challenge, and he will be tested to help the newly-promoted club be competitive, this year. He had originally signed with another club, and despite that opportunity not working out, we were able to find another situation that will allow him to carry the load. Avery is a very smart and competitive young man, and I'm happy that he is now in a position to be the true number one goaltender"
