IHM Client Blais Signs With Ulricehamns

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce that client, Liam Blais, has signed with Ulricehamns IF, of Sweden’s HockeyTvåan (Division 2). The 5’10, 175-pound right shot center recently graduated from University of Wisconsin-Superior. The NCAA Division-III student-athlete finished with a career year, compiling a stat line of: 29GP-7G-9A-16PTS. The September 25, 1995-born two-way center is from Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.

Blais’ Senior season included career highs in Goals, Assists, and Points, while also leading the team in Faceoff Percentage. In 2016-2017, he arrived to UW-Superior after a junior career in Canada, to what was an 8-win team. After being named Rookie of the Year, that season, Blais helped steer the program in the right direction, shown by their 16-win performance, this year. UW-Superior finished their season as a Top-10 Nationally-Ranked team. Blais was an Assistant Captain, just as he was for the Elliot Lake Wildcats of the NOJHL, in his final junior season.

Ulricehamn, Sweden is located in between Gothenburg and Jönköping, in Southern Sweden, just a few hours train ride from Stockholm. UIF competes in the HockeyTvåan Södra A group of Division 2. The Södra region is typically regarded as the highest level of hockey within HockeyTvåan. The Västergötland municipality of Ulricehamn has approximated 25,000 residents, and is considered a hockey town.

Ulricehamns IF Head Coach, Niklas Nilsson, noted,

“Liam is a very good fit for the style of hockey we want to play. He brings a lot of experience from a competitive level, and we are looking forward to having him on the team for next season.”

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, added,

“We are very excited about this opportunity for Liam. It was a great offer, and Ulricehamns IF was extremely easy to work with. Head Coach Niklas Nilsson did his homework, and they are certain that Liam will be an impact player for their club. Liam is a Swiss Army knife type of player, and I think he will arrive with a lot of confidence, building off of his breakout Senior season. We look forward to following Liam’s rookie season with UIF.”

Liam explained,

"I couldn’t be more excited about beginning my professional hockey career playing for Coach Nilsson, and Ulricehamns IF. With that said, Chris White and the entire IHM team have been extraordinary to work with, following my college hockey career. Throughout this entire experience, I have been grateful to have IHM in my corner, guiding me to ultimately land with Ulricehamns IF."
