IHM Client Juvas Signs With Hammarby

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce that Swedish defenseman client, Christoffer Juvas, has signed with Hammarby IF in Sweden’s HockeyEttan. The Swedish Division 1 club is located in Stockholm, Juvas’ hometown. Juvas is entering his first full season at the professional level. The 6’0, 187-pound right shot was born February 12, 1999. Christoffer is entering his second year as a member of the IHM Team.

Juvas returns home after 67 games in the US, playing for the Long Beach Bombers, Las Vegas Thunderbirds, and Ogden Mustangs; all of the Western States Hockey League. His career stat line overseas is: 67GP-15G-59A-74PTS. It was quite a dominating stretch for a defenseman, and one that looked to be headed towards a chance at a Thorne Cup Championship. This season, Juvas’ 47 Points were tied for 6th-most among defensemen in the WSHL. Unfortunately, the season was cut short, and Juvas elected to start his professional career, rather than commit four years to an NCAA Division III program. His time in the US will surely help with his confidence in all situations, moving into the senior level.

Prior to his journey across the Atlantic, Juvas had played a split-season for Örebro HK J20 SuperElit and Tyresö/Hanviken J20 Elit. He also was called up for 8 games by the Tyresö/Hanviken A-team. In 2017-2018, Juvas played for Leksands IF J20 SuperElit, recording 14 Points in 25 Games Played. This came after two season with Huddinge IK, at the J18 & J20 Elit levels. Juvas’ early developmental years were spent with Tyresö/Hanviken. Juvas is also a former member of the 2014-2015 Stockholm Syd TV-pucken team, a regional tournament team competing against other regions’ top 15 year-olds.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,

“Juvas is a real solid defenseman that can contribute in any number of ways. I think his time spent abroad really changed his approach and confidence. He took some new risks, and was rewarded with a lot of important situational play, which led to both individual and team success. He is a determined competitor and a great teammate. We are very pleased to have been a part of this process, and I expect him to have a strong rookie campaign.”

IHM’s Scandinavian Regional Director, Joel Larsson, added,

"It’s been great guiding Christoffer in his path to senior hockey. He is a very professional player, and will be an important asset for Hammarby, this upcoming season. It will be exciting to follow his development!”

Christoffer noted,

“IHM has helped me in both North America and Sweden, first at the junior level, and now senior. I initially chose IHM to help find me a good junior opportunity that would lead to NCAA possibilities. In the end, I decided to choose HockeyEttan over NCAA, and I couldn’t be more excited to join Hammarby. I had a great experience in the USA, even though the season was cut short. I was happy with a tryout offer, but the combination of my hard work and that of IHM, was able to help me receive a more serious offer, which I was glad to accept."
