IHM Client Matthew Cuce Signs With Tyringe

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce that client, Matthew Cuce, has signed with Tyringe SoSS in HockeyEttan (Sweden’s Division 1). The right shot center was born in Vermont, and currently lives in Fort Myers, Florida. Cuce stands 5’9, weighs 166 pounds, and was born September 14, 1995. Cuce is a recent alum of Elmira College in NCAA Division-III. Cuce is just the second NCAA Division-III player to sign in HockeyEttan, this off-season, and the fifth IHM client to do so.

Cuce was a standout Elmira College, scoring 127 Points in 105 Games Played. He was a two-time member of the All Conference Team, and a two-time Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey Team MVP. Cuce also donned an “A” in his Senior campaign. The 2014 Mr. Hockey in Vermont will be entering his rookie season of pro hockey, and is just the second NCAA Division-III player to sign in HockeyEttan, this off-season.

Tyringe SoSS plays out of Österås Ishall in Hässelholm. The location is between Malmö, Växjö, and Helsingborg, in Southwestern Sweden. The club has also signed another Southeastern US forward, former Manhattanville College alum, and two-year HockeyEttan veteran, Kevin Ioppatto of Atlanta, Georgia. Tyringe Hockey had a down year in 2019-2020, and will be counting on Cuce to help their offense improve on a franchise-worst season of production. Cuce’s signing makes him the 15th American player in club history.

Tyringe’s General Manager, Filip Steensbjerre, commented,

"Matthew is an exciting player who can be used both as a winger and center. He has good qualifications from college in the USA, and we, of course, hope that he will continue to be productive and make a positive impression with us, as well. Right now, we are working full-time to get both Matthew and Kevin Loppatto in-place, in Sweden. It can take up to two weeks before we have all the permits ready, and see them both on the ice in Tyrs Hov.”

Head Coach, Magnus Rahm, added,

"Matthew can both score goals and create opportunities for others. It will be exciting to see Matthew on the big ice. Matthew has just finished his university studies and wanted to move. We were looking for a forward who play center, and the process went very fast on both ends.”

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, said,

“We are very happy that Matthew has an opportunity to showcase his talent in HockeyEttan. Not many players from NCAA Division-III get the chance to step right into that level. We are confident Matty will jump right into the Tyringe lineup and have an impact on the season. In a time where Americans are having an extremely difficult time finding opportunities in Europe, due to the pandemic and travel/visa restrictions, this is definitely a feel-good story. Tyringe Hockey has been fantastic to work with, and is very excited about adding Matthew to the team.”

Matthew Cuce explained,

"IHM was recommended to me from a college teammate who is also an IHM client, and has also signed in Sweden. I followed their social media platforms and saw that they do an excellent job signing hockey players to move on to the next level. I’m super excited to be a part of this agency.

It was a pretty surreal process. I graduated college and knew that I wanted to continue playing hockey. Signing with IHM was a cool experience, and now signing with Tyringe is an unbelievable feeling. It happened very fast, but I can’t wait to get overseas and get things rolling.

The day I received the contract from Tyringe was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced. Signing to be a professional athlete is something I’ve always dreamed about since I was a little kid.

I am eager to get to Sweden and showcase my skills as a professional athlete. Obviously, I want my new team to be very successful and be a playoff contender. I can’t wait to bond with my new teammates, and the entire organization. Also, I'm really looking forward to exploring Sweden."
