IHM Client Spencer MacLean Signs With Grästorps IK
International Hockey Management is proud to announce that client, Spencer MacLean, has signed with Grästrops IK in HockeyTvåan (Sweden's Division 2). The Etobicoke, Ontario native recently graduated from Elmira College - NCAA Division III. The March 28, 1996-born left shot stands 6’5 and weighs 218 pounds.
MacLean finished his Elmira College career with a stat line of 85GP-25G-26A-50PTS. Elmira ended his Senior year with a record of 17-8-1, and finished fourth in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. His 14-point Senior season was the second-highest single-season point total, after a Sophomore campaign of 11G-8A-19PTS. MacLean played a big role as a part of a large Senior class that propelled Elmira from an 8-win team in 2016-2017 to their ultimate 17-win season. Prior to attending Elmira College, MacLean was a standout in the NOJHL with the Elliot Lake Wildcats. The 2015-2016 NOJHL First All-Star team member was also his team’s captain, and finished his junior career with a 33G-51A-84PTS season. That total was good for 10th in Scoring, in the NOJHL. His two seasons in Elliot Lake came after spending two years at The Hill Academy (CA-Prep), in Concord, Ontario.
Grästorps IK finished 2nd in the HockeyTvåan Södra A group, with a 13-6-3 record. The team then went on to finish 3rd in AllTvåan Södra, and eventually lost in the PlayOff Inför Kval Till HockeyEttan Region Syd to Osby IK. Grästorp is a small town located just north of Gothenburg. From 2010-2018, the club was playing in HockeyEttan, Sweden's Division 1.
International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,
"We're very excited for Spencer to have this opportunity. Grästorps IK is a very good organization that will open the door to other opportunities within Europe. Spencer has the size and skill to be an impact player at this level, and we are eagerly awaiting the start of the season, to follow his progress."
"I’m extremely excited to be given the opportunity to play for a historically successful program, and team, with Grästorps IK. I’m looking forward to using my unique skill set to help the team have another strong season. I have to thank the IHM team, specifically, Chris White & Joel Larsson. They were crucial in helping me follow my dreams. They were especially understanding and helpful during these tough times."
Grästorps IK Sports Director, Peter Johansson, noted,
"Spencer is a 24-year-old defender from Canada who will bring a North American physical presence into the team. This is exactly the type of player we think we have missed in our back line. He has also been team captain in some previous clubs, and this usually means good leadership qualities. It is very gratifying to welcome Spencer to GIK despite the fact that he had several offers both in Sweden and in the rest of Europe."
