IHM Welcomes Canadian Forward Sam Marit

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to welcome Canadian forward, Sam Marit, to the IHM Team! Sam played the 2020-2021 season in the British Columbia Hockey League (Canadian Junior A) for the Coquitlam Express. Sam is from Richmond Hill, Ontario, and was born on March 6, 2000. The left shot winger stands 6'0 and weighs 177 pounds.

Sam had a strong season with the Express, gathering 14 Points in 20 Games Played. Notably, Sam managed to play the entire season without recording a penalty. The BCHL had a modified season schedule, due to COVID-19. Marit finished 4th in scoring for Coquitlam, who went 6-11-3 in the season-unique Coquitlam Pod, with the Surrey Eagles and Powell River Kings. In 2019-2020, Marit tallied 23 Points in 42 Games, splitting time between the Markham Royals and Brampton Admirals of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Coquitlam Express Associate Coach, and 200+ NHL game veteran (New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, & Phoenix Coyotes), Ryan Hollweg, commented,

Sam is a good kid that works his butt off. He is a heart and soul kind of guy. He has great speed and I think he has the ability to be successful at the next level.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, added,

Sam is the type of player every team wants in their lineup. He can play up and down the forward group, and always gives maximum effort. It's tough for a player of Sam's age to break into the European pro market, but it was certainly comforting for me to hear a solid review of Sam from my old friend, Ryan Hollweg, a guy that's not only played in the NHL but also played high-level junior in British Columbia (WHL) and several years of European pro (Czech Extraliga). We are eager to find Sam an opportunity to prove himself and get his foot in the door of senior hockey.
