IHM Welcomes Russian Defenseman Amir Burguev

by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce the signing of Russian defenseman, Amir Burguev. The 6’3, 210-pound left shot was born June 30, 1997. Born in Kazan, Russia, Burguev spent four years playing junior hockey in the United States, for the Long Beach Bombers of the Tier-II Junior A Western States Hockey League. Amir is looking to play in Western Europe, this season.

The former team captain is also the career leader for points by a defenseman, in Long Beach, and the entire WSHL, with an impressive stat line of: 210GP-43G-157A-200PTS. He had three seasons of double-digit Goals and 50+ Points, and is one of just 38 WSHL players to eclipse 200 Career Points; the only defenseman to do so. He is also 2nd in Career Assists for the Long Beach Bombers organization, trailing only Tomáš Urbanec, another International Hockey Management client. Burguev was a three-time Division Championship winner and two-time league finals competitor.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,

“Amir possesses a lot of things coaches desire in a defenseman. He is big, has a great shot, has a deft passing touch, and can run a power play. He’s still a young player that can carve-out a nice career in this sport. I think he has the potential to quickly climb the professional ladder. He is a strong leader, and a very well-liked teammate. We are excited to see what opportunities lie ahead for him.”

WELCOME TO THE IHM TEAM, amir!
