by Chris White

International Hockey Management is proud to announce the signing of Swedish forward, Mattias Fahlesson. The 6’3, 205-pound left shot center is from Umeå, Sweden. Fahlesson was born February 13, 2000, and split time last season between IF Björklöven J20 Elit and Vännäs HC in HockeyEttan (Division 1). Fahlesson is looking to play at the professional level, within Sweden.

The big center finished second in scoring for IF Björklöven, with a stat line of 23GP-12G-18A-30PTS. Fahlesson’s production earned him a loan-out to Vännäs HC, who compete at Sweden’s third-highest professional level. Fahlesson played 11 Games for the club, recording 2G-2A-4PTS. The longtime Björklöven product has been a point-per-game, or better, player at the J18 and J20 levels over the past three seasons. Fahlesson also compiled a two-year stat line of 27GP-11G-14A-23PTS at the J18 Allsvenskan level. In 2015-2016, Fahlesson competed for Västerbotten at the famed Swedish TV-pucken showcase tournament, for the country’s top 15 year old players; Fahlesson also wore an “A” for his club. In 2019, he made his debut in Sweden’s second-highest level, Allsvenskan, with his home club of IF Björklöven.

International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,

“Mattias has the size and skill that every team is looking for. He is a big center that can factor into the offense in any number of ways. He has shown he can score, facilitate, and make the physical or non-boxscore type of plays to help his team be successful. Mattias is at an age where we discussed the possibility of going to the US for his final year of junior eligibility, but he is focused on playing at the highest level available to him, in Sweden. We are thrilled to be a part of this promising young player’s decision-making and career. We look forward to guiding him through the process, and watching his success along the way.”
